I am thinking of purchasing an old powerboat (1970s) that would be kept at a nearby marina. It's not exactly a gem, so I am not really interested in comprehensive insurance. I imagine all marinas in California would require at least liability insurance on the boat. Do I need to get the boat surveyed in order to get the most basic required coverage? Because the boat is so old, are there other factors that might prevent me from getting it insured?
