If I lie about my grades to get a good student discount with my auto insurance, does it matter. Do they check?

If I submit an altered grade transcript to the auto insurance company looking to get a good student dicount, do I have to worry about them calling the school to check. Is this a realistic concern. If they do, what are the real consquences?
